I am so happy to be blogging about something that actually happened this month! Feels like I am finally catching up, at least with one thing in my life.
Lyla had her 2nd birthday on the 2nd of this month. Unfortunately with 4 birthdays in 5 weeks for our family, by this point we were pretty birthday’d out. At least I was this time. Luckily Lyla doesn’t know the difference right now. I’ll make it up to her when she’s older, I promise.
I took this next picture on her actual birthday. We had to go run some errands and on her own she found her purse and sunglasses. Then announced she was ready to go. Boy did she grow up fast!
That day L.J. was able to do some work so we decided to celebrate a few days later. First, here are a couple cute pictures of our sweet Lyla.
She is a tiny little thing, only measuring in at 15 % of her age group. She eats very well and she’s healthy so that’s all that matters. She is so smart! I’m not just saying that as her Mom either. She talks in full sentences & has for quite awhile. She knows several colors and shapes and is learning to recognize her letters and numbers already. The thing that amazes me is when she sees a letter, she’ll say the name of a letter. It may not be the right one, but when she sees a number, she’ll say the name of a number. She never mixes them up. We got rid of our cable awhile ago so the only kid shows she has to watch are on PBS. Sesame Street & Super Why are her favorites. Well, Caillou is too but that one drives me crazy!
Lyla says some pretty funny things too and makes me laugh. One day we were playing around and being silly. I said, “Lyla, you’re goofy.” Then she said, “Mommy, you’re Donald.” She does get to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse since Grandma can record shows for her. I guess that’s where that came from.
One day we were shopping in Costco. It’s funny to me that with Lyla being such a girly-girl, she HATES shopping! She cries the entire time. At one point I had said, “OK, let’s go” and then remembered something else and had turned around. Well, she lost all control and started screaming. A sweet Grandma came over to her and patted her on the back and said, “What’s wrong?’’ Lyla yelled back, “I’M MAD!” I don’t think she was expecting that.
First we did have a Brown family birthday party for everyone in April.
Now I have to preface this next gift for Lyla. She LOVES shoes! She won’t even get down from her changing table in the morning when I get her dressed until she has her shoes on. Then she’ll change the shoes several times a day. She will open her closet and say, “Hum, let’s see. Which ones?” I am so in trouble when she’s a teenager!
Grandma bought Lyla the prettiest, flashiest, girliest shoes ever made and she LOVES LOVES LOVES THEM! The best part is they light up when she jumps. Her older cousin, Katelynn has the same shoes and Lyla was so excited to look like Katelynn.
That night after her bath she had to have the shoes back on, even over her pajamas. I thought she was going to sleep in them but she did take them off just before getting into bed.
What two year old girl could ask for anything more?
Finally, the next day she gets to open some presents from Mom & Dad. Not that we could top the shoes though.
Why does she look so grown up here?
Daddy always gives the birthday spankings!
She’s not too sure what to think about those candles.
MMMMmmmmm………Cake!
Lyla does not want Luke coming anywhere near her cake!
She’s my little sweetheart!
At the family party we also had an Easter egg hunt. All 13 cousins were there. There were hundreds of eggs to go around so no worries.
Reach Luke!!
Lyla is making sure that Brayden doesn’t have more eggs than she does.
When Laurel and Lyla had enough candy they just got right to the best part, eating it!
The whole Brown gang!
My kiddos and their stash…
And finally, since General Conference fell on Easter Sunday this year, we didn’t have the chance to get dressed up for church that morning. I took these pictures the next Sunday. I love to coordinate the kids clothes! I’m going to keep doing it as long as they let me. I was lucky this time because most everything we already had. I only bought Lyla that cute sweater & skirt to complete the look.
I love my kids!
I love that last picture! And wow, those 2 years sure went fast!!
