Collegiate Lineman’s Competition

I can’t believe L.J’s Lineman program is almost over!  Recently he participated in a Lineman’s Competition.  The school calls it a “Rodeo” and the students from his school and others from out of state compete in obstacle courses to show off their new skills.  It’s timed and judged and a chance for your family to watch and cheer you on.

Here are a few pictures I took.  It’s hard to tell that’s L.J. but I promise it is.

I know this next picture is him doing a cross arm change.  They have to take off the cross arm, send it down to the ground, bring it back up and then attach it back to the poll.

Here is another obstacle course.

Here he is looking so cute in all of his gear!

He ended up coming in 10th in his class!!  Too bad only the top 8 go to the national competition but that’s OK.  He’s always been worried about starting over in a new career at his age and one that is so physically demanding.  Obviously, no need to worry!

Now on to do some serious job hunting!  Actually, it’s been going on for awhile and not looking good yet.  He’s applied for 7 different jobs anywhere from Oregon to Pennsylvania.  We’ve heard back from 3 but only to say that he wasn’t being considered anymore.  One letter said “With more than 400 applicants for one position, we have chosen to give interview preference to individuals currently residing in our 3-county area.”  Depressing!

He has had fun and really enjoyed learning this new career.  We are so proud of him!
