Here are a few more activities we had in March.
Emily turned 10 on the 9th. We had a nice dinner at home, her favorite ravioli & meatballs and then some cake for dessert.
I thought this next video was pretty funny of us singing happy birthday to her. It just seems so typical of the kids right now.
One day I walked into the living room to find this on the TV…..
Luke has become quite the Wii master lately but this day he actually fell asleep while playing. While I was so sick and exhausted for the past few months, Luke entertained himself with the Wii. Please don’t judge me. When Lyla would take her nap, all I wanted to do was lay down on the couch. It was the only break I got during the day. Luke played the Wii and was just happy that I was in the room.
We recently switched to the 9:00am church time which is better for the kids. Lyla can make it through without needing a nap now. We usually feed her as soon as we get home and then she takes her nap. Sometimes we don’t quite make it.
Luke LOVES to go to Heber. For this last trip we packed all the clothes the night before. He wanted to leave right away!
As stated before here are a few pictures of our most recent projects on our house in Heber. L.J. continues to amaze me with what he is willing to learn to do for this house and how well he is able to do everything. For the master shower, we needed a special sloped floor and drain pan. Not something that you can just pick up at Home Depot because the size of the shower. He researched, watched tutorials online and just figured it out. He was really nervous about it because it does need to be done just right but of course, it turned out perfectly.
He spent two full days installing Hardie Backer in both bathrooms, the laundry room and entry way. Here’s a pictures of the shelf in the master shower.
The tub/shower in the hall bath:
Then we were finally able to lay tile. He spent the next 3 days laying and grouting all of it. Here’s the floor in the master bath leading into the closet & toilet room.
The entry way at the front door. For years there was a large hole here from many years of rain & snow wearing away at the wood floor. Now that we have installed a porch and reinforced the floor along with the tile, this will never be a problem again.
On the last trip I had forgotten to take a picture of the beautiful wood floor L.J. had installed in the new kitchen. So here it is. This is looking from the living room into the kitchen and then the doorway to the laundry room. The beam across the top is where the old house connects to the new addition. You’d never tell by looking at the seamless floor. That’s brand new wood connected to 50+ year old wood and then all sanded down to look the same. We still need to seal it which will then make it shinny and bring the beautiful colors out.
This is the old kitchen which we plan to use as a small office area.
When this house is finally done I plan to do a post with all of my before and after pictures. I could probably make a book with them actually. This has been so much fun but we are really ready to finish!
That’s it for March. I haven’t forgotten February, just need a little more time.
Wow the house really is coming along! And I love at the end of the video how LUke says "Its my turn?" lol
ReplyDeleteI'm new...are you planning to move to Heber when the house is done? How long have you been working on it? We have a family reunion in Heber every year, my family owns a "cabin" there, its a great place!
