I can not believe this…….
I went to unload all of my July pictures off of my camera and realized that I had not taken ONE picture of any of my kids all month! Honestly, I think that’s a first for me and I am feeling a little guilty.
All of my pictures were of our house in Heber. Slowly but surely, we’re still making progress. We have little set-backs now & then but we are excited to finally be this far and only have one more inspection before receiving our certificate of occupancy.
Drew made the kids this fun box house/maze with boxes that the cabinets came in. They loved it but we did end up having to take it down. We were becoming the neighborhood playground with kids running in & out all day. Too many tools laying around for that to be safe.
CABINETS!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s all I can say. I’m so excited! The sink is now in it’s right spot over on the left side of the kitchen with the dishwasher, stove & microwave installed too. I even baked a pecan pie in this kitchen to celebrate.
We can now officially use the bathroom in this house. Luke was given the first honors. :)
Andrew came up and spent several days helping L.J. tile the showers. This shower is now finished, just need to grout & seal it.
About half way done with the master shower. It curves to the right so it’s difficult to get a good picture of it. There’s one regular shower head with two body jets.
Look at this BEAUTIFUL wood floor. I can not give L.J. enough props for what he has done here. This is the room he is most proud of because it had old nasty carpet glued down when we bought the house. It was a mess but he sanded and sanded and then stained & sealed. I think it looks amazing.
Before the new sheet rock was installed L.J. spent months (or really years) planning and wiring this house for any possible future need. Internet, cable, intercom system, speakers, etc. Most rooms even have everything running to more than one wall, so we have more than one option for furniture. He’s thought of everything. Here is a picture of his Command Central in a closet in the master bedroom. I have no idea what all this can do but it’s his baby and he is very proud of it.
Here is is burning the midnight oil….well at least the 9:00pm oil.
A new black composite granite kitchen sink. I have one of these here at home and I love it.
If you know the Crandell’s, you know what expert canners we are. And by we of course I mean my in-laws. The garden is going strong right now so as soon as there was another stove available, it was put to use. I had to laugh when we don’t even have functioning showers, doors or baseboards yet but we’re canning.
Finally some baseboards…. They’re not done yet but hopefully soon.
Here is L.J. mixing by hand the concrete for steps at the front and back doors. We thought we had access to a mixer and went to pick it up but when he got back, it didn’t work. It’s a good thing he’s Superman.
Here is Chester finishing the first step at the back door.
I would now like to thank my two favorite nephews (who shall remain nameless for the sake of this blog) who decided to use the step before it was dry. Uurrrrggggg…. Luckily Chester was able to smooth most of it out and I’m hoping that the top step will cover the rest. The top step is done too but I had to leave before getting a picture of it.
And finally, this is still my favorite part of the house: the front porch with a red door and now a step so you don’t have to feel like you’re climbing in.
Next month is our official 5 year anniversary of owning this house! It should be finished by then & we are going to throw a party!!!
PS – For a little history & “before” pictures see my 1st post about this house.
Seriously impressive!!
