Baby Girl Names

I've made it to week 32!!  Only 8 more to go!  I'm pretty sure I'll go the full 40, I usually do.  That's OK with me because the more I think about having 5 kids, the more I realize that #5 is a lot easier to take care of right where she is.

We still have plenty of time but we are starting to think about possible names for this new little princess.  L.J. did inform me that I have picked the names for all 4 of the other kids so it's his turn to name a baby.  Huh, I wish I had known that before now.  All along I thought we were working together to pick these names.  I probably would have done a couple differently if I had known it really was my choice.

Since I don't have anything in mind that I really like anyway, I have agreed to let him decide on a name BUT I still get "veto" power.  He always comes up with the most unusual names and I just want it to fit in with the names of our other kids.

Some of his suggestions so far have been:
  • Zetta
  • Mirage
  • Isis
  • Zelda
  • Posy
Help!!  He loves names that are characters in movies or TV shows .  His favorite right now is Mirage only because it is the white haired lady in The Incredibles.  I can't say I disagree with his theory because Ally is from the old TV show Ally McBeal & Lyla is from the movie August Rush and I really like both of those names but ........Mirage???

Another problem we're finding is that with having a million nieces, the good names are taken or are too similar to ones already being used.  We do want her to have an original name.  I'm sure we'll find ourselves in the hospital gazing at this new little girl still trying to decide what the best name possible would be to give her.  That's usually how it goes for us.

We recently had our 3D ultrasound.  It was fun to see her moving around and even smiling.  Her facial expressions reminded me of Lyla.  Let's hope she gets the same hair!  When I was scanning the pictures below into the computer, Luke walked into the office and asked, "Is that the new baby?"  When I said yes he said, "Well, she sure looks funny."

  1. Awww! Such great pictures. LJs names crack me up. Just don't forget, anything will be cute on a newborn. But this child will have to live with the name forever, so even though movie names might sound cool now...you get the idea. :) We always liked Natalie and Hannah. Good luck!

  2. Girl names are so difficult. Almost every name we came up with rhymed with or had the same nickname as one of the nieces. So one daughter of mine has a 'boy' name and the other rhymes with one of her cousins. Hah. I just decided I didn't care if it rhymed it was the only name we could agree on and I was going to name her whatever made me happy. L.J.'s names sound like Jonathans...I think he actually suggested Isis a time or two. Good Luck.

  3. I still think Elyse or Elyssa is a great name for your family. She could go by Ellie or Lyssie too.
