Car Update

Just a quick update on my car. It is officially TOTALED!!! The girl at the collision center told me that even factoring the cost of the repairs at the in house cost, it was still over $16,000 worth of damage. WOW! I'm a little more upset now. In the beginning I didn't get too freaked out because I know accidents happen and they were willing to fix it but now that I know how bad this car has been hurt, I don't want it back and I am upset.

My next door neighbor asked me today if I had gotten a new car. I explained that it was just a rental and why I had a rental. He said something that sparked a thought. He wondered if the guy had been texting while he was driving my car and that's why he didn't see the light poll. Interesting.... Then I remembered that when another technician was driving me over to Enterprise to pick up the rental, he was texting while he was driving. I was texting too, letting L.J. know what was going on but I was in the passenger seat. I had even thought, "I can't believe this guy is texting while he is driving me after they just wrecked my car." Then in the craziness of that evening I had forgotten about the texting until talking to my neighbor. Of course I can't prove that he was but it's an interesting thought.

Well, I was told Thursday morning that the General Manager was informed on Wednesday that my car had been totaled. I was also told that he would be getting in contact with me. I've been home..... no ones called..... I'm still waiting.....

Some good news is that we may not be as upside down as I had first thought with our loan. I called the finance company to get an official payoff and it will be pretty close. I also called my insurance company to report the accident but they didn't want to process a claim. That kind of bugs me. They said that since it was the dealerships fault, the dealership will take care of it. Well, I've had enough experience with car dealerships to know that they only take care of themselves. I think I'm going to call the insurance company back on Monday and try to talk to a Supervisor. I would think they would want to be involved since the policy that I pay for makes them ultimately responsible for that car. I would like someone involved that has my best interest at heart too.

We're still planning on leaving Wednesday evening for Thanksgiving in Heber. I'd love to know what kind of a car I will have by then but I doubt that will happen. I'm taking off in this rental if they havn't worked it out my then and they'll just have to wait until I get back. They're certainly not in a hurry to get this settled so neither am I.

To Be Continued...
