May’s Exciting Events

Before I let too much of June go by, I want to post a little of what happened in May.   Emily said good-bye to a dear friend recently.  She got this easel for a Christmas present when she was about 4 or 5 years old.  She has used it, literally EVERY DAY since then.  She would make her To-Do list for the day on it, practice her spelling words, pretend to play school, draw, leave us notes & anything else possible on this white board.  I loved that she had something that she enjoyed so much.  As you can see it is well loved.

With the number of people living in our house growing & the amount of space we have shrinking, we had to do something else.  We got her a white board that hangs on the wall and she has it in her room.  She was actually just fine with letting this go and loves her new board.  Easy solution!

I know I take a lot of pictures of my kids sleeping, they are just so dang cute!  This one I could not pass up…..

Ally went to her first school dance!  Usually the school dances are only for the 7th & 8th graders.  The 6th graders are invited to the last one of the year.  Of course she had to give a full report to her Dad when she came home.  Mostly he wanted to know what music the DJ played.  Typical!

This was my Mother’s Day present.  LOVED IT!!  Edible Arrangements are so fun.  L.J. surprised me with it the day before Mother’s Day and then said so sweetly, “It was expensive.  Don’t waste it.”  Like that’s going to happen with 4 kids & a pregnant lady in the house.  It was gone within a couple of hours.

Our biggest event for May (maybe even for the year ~ at least until September) was L.J. graduating!!!!!  He made it and we are so proud of him!  We had planned to take the kids to the graduation, I thought it would be good for them to see it.  Then we found out that the ceremony didn’t even start until 8:00 pm.  There was no way Luke & Lyla could handle that so my Mom came over to stay with the kids and L.J. and I had a date night.

This is going to be one of my favorite pictures of all time.  Lyla LOVES her Daddy!

We celebrated by going to Nielsen’s Frozen Custard in Mesa afterward.  That’s our favorite place to go when we’re on that side of town.  I wish I could say something about a new job but there’s nothing to report yet.

Luke & Lyla started swim lessons.  This is Luke’s 3rd year and he was in heaven.  It was Lyla’s 1st and she was not!  Luke loves Jenny and was so excited to come see her every day.

Lyla was not so thrilled.

Luke LOVES swimming!

Lyla….well, not so much.  We just finished 4 weeks of lessons and she cried every single day.  She can actually hold her breath & kick really well but she just doesn’t like being in the water.  Maybe next year?

That’s a quick wrap up with a little more to come.  We were up in Heber for Memorial Day weekend and had fun at the ranch.  Too many pictures to include here so I’ll have a separate post soon.

  1. congrats to Allie, she's sure growing up! And congrats to LJ--the picture with him and Lyla is so cute! What fun with the swimming, and you're looking great, prego lady! Dan and I have always looked longingly at those fruit arrangements, but yeah, pricey! Glad you got to test one out!

  2. Wow, I can't believe Ally is old enough for dances! They shouldn't be allowed to grow up so fast. Congratulations to L.J. Poor Lyla looks miserable at swim lessons. Can't wait to see you guys in a couple weeks.
