Ally goes to Girls Camp

This summer has been a pretty lazy one for us.  No complaints of course!  Not much to share except that Ally went to her first Girls Camp!  I don’t know who was more nervous and excited, her or me.  It was the longest she has been away but I knew she would have a great time.

I took this picture before she left the house, just to make sure I got a picture and didn’t embarrass her at the stake center.

Honestly, I did get a little choked up with leaving her.  I was doing fine keeping my emotions down until Sis. Cole put her arm around me and said, “Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of her.”  My voice got a little shaky but I regained control quickly.  I’ll blame it on the pregnancy hormones.  I did see a Dad of one of the other 1st year girls having a really hard time himself so I didn’t feel so bad.

Now I’m going to let Ally finish the post with her own pictures and thoughts.

Ok I feel really bad right now because I didn’t take pictures until Friday so bare with me here.

This is our flag. If you can’t see Sis. Wylie put little camo boots and dresses on us.

When we got to camp we ate lunch (it was about 10:00 in the morning) and went to our cabins and unpacked then first years went to the lodge for dancing. The song was hard to learn but fun to do. Then that night we did certification and learned about recycling.

In the middle of the night we heard a big THUD!! and our door burst open. It was a boot. The next morning we found these,filename_03

and this,

all over the door and walls of our cabin. Turns out the YCLs came to everyone’s cabins and did that.

this is our secret sister mailbox where we put our gifts,

the inside of our cabin was decorated with quotes like this one.filename_02

Every night the YCLs came to our cabin for devotionals. Here is a picture.

In order from left to right:

Danielle, Hazel (my fellow first year), Lacey, and Dayna

On Thursday the first years went on this big three-mile hike and when we got back we were soaked by the YCLs.

On Friday the first years went to archery and I got the target. I was excited because at Outdoor Ed in 5th grade we did archery and I never got it on the target. My best shot was in the red circle.

On Saturday we packed, cleaned, and rode home.

CAUTION: You will have camp songs stuck in your head for a month!

Camp was so much fun, I love it!!
