Luke Turns Five

Luke was SO EXCITED to turn FIVE!  He told me he's "all grown up" and wanted to know if we all thought he looked so much bigger now.  He had a hard time understanding that he will have to wait until August to go to Kindergarten though.  That really is an eternity to wait for a five year old. He wants to go to the big school NOW!

He came up with a great idea of what to do for his birthday. He wanted to launch rockets.  Easy enough.  We called a few friends and went over to a canal close to the house.  Everyone had fun.

Here’s the happy birthday boy!

Carson & Luke.  Two peas in a pod, the Wii Masters & Jedi Knights in training.  Both are the only boys in their family so at least they have each other.

The kids had fun chasing down & trying to catch the falling rockets.

Good catch Mason!

Ben is such a cutie pie!  At one point he came up to me and told me that “Luke’s cousin is really nice.”  Of course I thought he meant Carson, Luke’s 6 year-old-boy cousin.  Then I look over and see Ben talking to Jamie, Carson’s 13-year-old sister!  We love Ben… LOL!

Mason, Ben, Luke & Carson…..watch out ladies!

That evening at home the best part….presents and cake!

He was actually speechless with this one.

MEGAMIND, cute movie!

Now he’s got a pillow pet like his sisters.

I really fall short in the fun birthday cake department.  It’s just not something I can pull together and don’t even try.  I do buy a fun candle to dress it up a little.  I know my kids are deprived but I don’t think they’ll be scarred too bad.

In an effort to get the blog up to date a little faster I’m going to post any other “Luke” pictures I have here.  LOVE this boy!!!

I posted this pic of Facebook recently.  My caption:  “Sometimes even super heroes have sick days.”  Poor kid was wiped out but it didn’t last too long.

Luke could have easily been the little boy in the Super Bowl commercial for Volkswagen.  He wears his Darth Vader costume every day!  Ruby’s doesn’t seem to be too phased.

One Sunday L.J.’s parents came to church with us.  I had to get a picture of these handsome men!  Luke still loves wearing his suit but has noticed that his does not have an inside pocket like his Dad’s.  He’s about out grown this one so I’m going to have to make sure the next one has this important feature.

Just another cute picture….

Sometimes I do worry about Luke being surround by all these girls in his life.  Then I see pictures like the next three and I know he is still ALL BOY!

The last five years have flown by but at the same time it’s hard to remember what life was like before Luke.  He is our entertainer, he loves to learn and is so inquisitive, and he says the cutest things like, “I love you most Mom.”

My Facebook post on his birthday:  “Five years ago today was one of the greatest days of my life.....I became Luke's Mom! I will always be eternally grateful to his amazing birth mom who had the strength and courage to let me be a part of his life.  He is so special and we LOVE him sooooooooooo much! Happy Birthday Buddy!!”
