Kartchner Caverns

Right after New Years we went with the Brown family down to Southern Arizona to visit Grandma & Grandpa Brown and take the kids to see the amazing Kartchner Caverns. For all of my friends who are living in Arizona while their husbands are going to school (and everyone else too), this is one thing you HAVE to do while you're here! It's a perfect weekend get-a-way.

Kartchner Caverns is located in Benson, almost an hour south of Tucson. This was my third time in the cave but since the last time I was here, they have opened up a new part. It's called the Big Room and it's only open for tours from October 15-April 15.

We went on both tours this time. I was excited to see the big room but also realized that there really isn't anything new in that part. Just a lot more to see. It was well worth it but I would say that you wouldn't miss out on anything if it was closed when you went there. We couldn't take cameras into the cave so I found some pictures on the website. Here's a link to if you want to find out more info.

Since I didn't have my camera out and ready, I didn't get a lot of other shots from the trip but here are a few. We borrowed a friends 5th wheel and camped at the parks camp sight. It was only $22 a night & included power & water. We decided this was the only way to camp! We're now in the market for a good used trailer.

This is my cutie, Luke. You can see the other kids inside watching a movie. In their defense it was cold & windy that day. So it was nice to get out of the weather.

Carson & Luke did play outside a little bit.

That night we ate dinner at Denny's (kids eat free, yea!). They were swamped and our poor waitress was waiting on & busing every table in the entire section. It took forever to get our food. Luke was too tired & just couldn't wait. We took this picture because he's holding the spoon just like he's talking on the phone. We all know Luke's obsession with the phone. We joked that he was on a "spoon call". After a long day and having very empty stomachs, that seemed a lot funnier than it does now.

All in all a very fun trip!
