Lyla Turns Three

Actually, Lyla turned three back in April (shows how behind I am with blogging).  I have to keep my posts somewhat chronological or they’ll never happen.  We do have some new & exciting news in the Crandell household but right now this post is about our sweet Princess Lyla.

Lyla’s birthday was on a Saturday and we were trying to think of something fun to do as a family to celebrate.  At first it was going to be some time at the park but that day turned out to be about 95 degrees.  We weren’t ready to brave the heat so early in the year so we decided to go to the mall and play on the playground.

Then Lyla had her first visit to Build A Bear.  Too many choices for a new three year old.  Good thing Ally & Emily were there to help.

Then presents and cake!

The next day we had dinner at Grandma Brown’s house so we decided to bring a piñata for the cousins.  Several days before I asked Lyla if she wanted to have a piñata for her birthday.  She was excited and said, “Yes, like Dora!”  So I assumed she understood what was going to happen to the piñata.  I should have known better.

We started the kids off youngest to oldest.  Lyla knew exactly what to do.

It didn’t make it through the whole group before the candy was released.  Lyla was devastated with what they had done to her princess castle.

Ally & Emily gathered up some candy for her and that made everything better.

Lyla is a tiny little thing weighing in at only 16% of her age group.  What she lacks in size she makes up with hair and eye lashes!  Some random cute pictures of our sweet Lyla.

I took this next one just so I could always remember those curls.  Her hair is starting to grow in more straight so I don’t ever want to give her a hair cut.  She’s our own Rapunzel.

She loves it when Luke plays “dress up” with her.

Fun with some static cling!

Lyla is such a sweet heart.  She’s a little girl with a HUGE vocabulary.  I love it when she says, “Of course Mom” when I ask her to do something.  She still loves to cuddle and if my lap is ever empty, she climbs right on.  She’s carried that baby doll around with her every day since she got it on her 1st birthday.  She has a sparkle in her eye and her smile is contagious.

We love you Lyla!

  1. It's so hard to believe that I was there when she had just barely turned 18 months and joined nursery! She's so big and beautiful! Happy Birthday, Lyla!
