Our Big Announcement

OK – so I haven’t blogged for quite awhile now.  I could say life has been crazy but that would be an understatement.  I could say that I haven’t had anything interesting to say but of course that’s not true.  I could also say that I’ve been a little sick lately and that would definitely be true!  I’ve never been one for big showing announcements so here goes……I’m pregnant!

Yes, it is true.  We are going to have another baby.  Can’t believe it?  Well, neither can we!  For anyone who doesn’t know me all that well, we spent 10 years not being able to have children of our own.  We had two wonderful adoption experiences that I wouldn’t trade for the world and then almost 2 years ago we had what we thought was our miracle baby.

I was very happy to have 4 kids and I knew I was very lucky to have them.  I felt complete and just knew that we were done.  Well, Heavenly Father certainly has a sense of humor.  That’s all I can say.

Notice how the ultrasound says “BABY” and not “Monkey”.  I did worry for a minute or two.

Today I am officially 14 weeks and we’re due on September 23rd.  The very cool thing is that this is L.J.’s grandmothers 100th birthday and she is still living and doing very well.  I’m really hoping this baby can come right on time.

Honestly I did FREAK OUT when I realized what was happening.  The timing of this is really not great.  We are already so cramped in our 1900 sq foot house and can’t sell because of the terrible housing market and L.J. was just laid off work with only 2 months to go before finishing school.  He’s applying for apprenticeships all over the country because the electrical companies in AZ are probably not going to do any hiring this year.  So we’re looking at a major move this summer.  Plus we have NO maternity coverage.  At least now that we’re unemployed I should qualify for state assistance.

It’s been a crazy first trimester.  I know women who have had it much worse than me but I felt TERRIBLE 24 hours a day and now finally I’m starting to have some normal days.  In the mean time we had Luke’s 4th Birthday, Emily’s 10th Birthday, L.J.’s 40th Birthday and Thursday is Lyla’s 2nd Birthday.  I’m the Mom so I can’t let those go by without all of the fun and excitement, right?  I did my best.  I’ll post pictures soon (I hope).

L.J. would have been very happy for me to have just let his go by without any mention but it was his BIG 4-0!  He did have fun announcing the news to all of his family at his birthday dinner.  Everyone was surprised and especially surprised that we had kept it a secret for so long.  I was actually going to wait and see who was brave enough to ask me if I was pregnant after I really started to show but decided this way was better.

I am excited to say that I can still button my jeans but I know that’s not going to last long.  I also can’t believe how horrible this summer is going to be, waiting until Sept to have this baby.  Ally was born in August and I still remember the torture.  A friend of mine told me back then that the only thing worse than having a baby in August is having one in September.  Yea!!  Maybe we won’t be here then so who knows.

Life is going to continue to be very crazy for the next few months, so I might as well just hang on and enjoy the ride!

  1. I'm so excited that you are having another baby! And sorry that you are having a hard time. If we can help in any way, please let me know. I asked my husband if there any openings at his work and he said there aren't any right now. I hope he is able to find a job soon, and that it is here in AZ. :)
